Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
oh, not again...
Another LJ-scare? :(

I'm listening to the "Don't Panic" messages. And I can't really use any of the backup-tools being recommended. Old computer, dial-up Internet - can't cope with backing up over six years of LJ posts and 68,000 comments. So - crossing fingers for LJ to continue existing.

Anyway, the Horcrux is mctabby at InsaneJournal.

If your entries aren't friends-only (or if the other person is on your friends list) anyone should be able to back up your journal with lj archive.

(If you want me to try it - yell. Possibly loud enough to be heard on IJ.)

Also: if they fired the designers etc. - why is there no rejoicing about the LJ re-designs that now won't take place?

Thanks - I appreciate the offer - but I don't think I can deal with the LJ-backup issue right now. Will yell if the situation really looks like going kaboom. :)

Thanks for finding a positive side to this, too. Looks like the userinfo page will stay as it is!

If you're really concerned, I'd be willing to archive your LJ and then forwadr the document to you...

LOL, I was going to make the suggestion to have a trusted friend back up for you (it's been a few years, but I think you need usename/password, which is easily changed for a day or so while the techno stuff happens) but it looks like I was beat to the punch. Good luck!

What is this... dial up of which you speak? ;)

Joking aside, my impression was that they weren't that close to folding yet, just that they were slashing their budget by firing the more expensive staff when they could opt for cheaper Russian replacements?

Welcome to my life. It's brought to you by dial-up and Windows 98. *facepalms*

And that's the "Don't Panic" message, yes!

O_O how do you survive?! Oh well, I suppose it could be worse. You could be on satellite internet...
